Statesville Police said they have charged a woman with involuntary manslaughter following an almost two year investigation into a one month old baby's death.
Statesville Police said the child died in August 2011. At the time, they say the baby was brought to the hospital by family members and that police were notified that he died.
Police said 30-year-old Adrian Chambers was taking care of the baby the day he died. After almost two years of interviews and evaluation of evidence, police said they have charged Chambers with involuntary manslaughter. She turned herself in Tuesday afternoon and was held in jail on $2500 bail.
Eyewitness News checked with the jail Tuesday evening and were told Chambers is out.
Eyewitness News went to the neighborhood where police say the incident happened and spoke with a woman off camera who says she is Chambers mother. She saidshe had nothing to say.
