The LGBT Pride Celebration is going on in Uptown Charlotte on South Tryon Street. It include the first Pride parade in the Queen City in 19 years.
The celebration will run until 10 p.m. Saturday. It will pick back up at noon Sunday.
Organizers said they expect 55,000 people to turn out.
Several streets in Uptown will be closed for the festival. South Tryon is shut down between Third and Stonewall streets, Martin Luther King Boulevard between College and Church Streets and Levine Avenue of the Arts.
