Cafe patrons mark one-year anniversary of fatal stabbing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

The community is still mourning the death of a restaurant manager.

Danielle Watson was murdered last year at the Flying Biscuit Cafe. Another employee was arrested for the crime.

The cafe honored the anniversary by donating profits to The American Cancer Society in her memory. The co-owner of the restaurant said in a statement that Watson respected the organization.

People who ate at the Flying Biscuit on Sunday said the crime is hard imagine. Watson was two months pregnant.

One year ago, the 25-year-old woman was fatally stabbed. Police charged Mark Cox with armed robbery and murder.

Since her death, the popular restaurant has come under fire for hiring Cox. He’s a felon who served time for robbery and breaking and entering. In 2009, he was convicted of robbing a Sonic restaurant where he worked.

Sunday’s anniversary wasn't about Cox. It was about the life of Watson. People who ate at The Flying Biscuit  on Sunday remember the terrible stabbing.

"The thing I thought about was she was pregnant. There would be a new baby here by now if that horrible thing hadn’t happened,” Peggy Raedy said.
