Sunshine will warm things up Thursday after chilly start

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

After a chilly start to the day, expect plenty of sunshine Thursday afternoon, Severe Weather Center 9 meteorologist Vicki Graf says.

The mountains were still under a winter weather advisory until 10 a.m. due to black ice on some of the roads.

Temperatures will still be a little cool for this time of year. Normally, temps should be near 60 degrees, but Thursday’s high is expected to be around 56 degrees.

Winds are back down this afternoon and won’t be an issue like they were Wednesday.

The dry pattern continues over the next couple of days.

Afternoon highs will gradually warm up to the upper 50s Friday, with some areas reaching the low 60s.

Beautiful weather is on tap for the weekend. Highs will be in the mid-60s with plenty of sunshine Saturday and a few clouds on Sunday.

The next storm system is expected to arrive Monday afternoon.
