CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
A group of people who support the Charlotte streetcar project plan to speak out Thursday, pushing for funding.
Some City Council members want to cut the project from the budget to prevent an 8 percent tax hike.
Mayor Anthony Foxx said he thinks the street cars and the light rail extension need to be in the budget. He will meet with council members next Monday, and then they will vote on a plan.
The news conference in support of the streetcar project is being held Thursday afternoon.
