BESSEMER CITY, N.C. —
A teenager is charged with a felony after police said he threatened to blow up his school.
Itacha Bruce, 16, was not happy about being out of school on a Friday.
“It's not so good, because I had to go to court,” he said.
He is charged with making a bomb threat at Bessemer City High School, which is a felony.
It was the fourth threat at the school in just two weeks. All of the threats were written on the walls of the bathroom.
But police believe Bruce is only responsible for the threat Thursday. That's when they arrested him on campus.
“I know it didn't look good for me,” Bruce said.
He said he wrote the words "blow up the school" because a student threatened to beat him up if he didn't do it. He blames that student for his arrest.
“It wasn't fair, but in life things are not fair,” he said.
The threats led to tense moments on campus, and the entire school was evacuated after one of them.
Since the threats started, school staff has been searching students as they arrive on campus and checking the bathrooms between classes.
On Friday, parents received a phone message letting them know someone had been arrested.
Police hope that is enough to stop the threats.
