CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
A traffic stop Sunday on Interstate 77 became a chase, according to troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol. The chase started just after 10 p.m.
Troopers said the chase, which sped through north Charlotte, reaching speeds of 110 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Officers caught Roger Rios after he crashed into a fence on Lakeview Road near Beatties Ford Road Sunday night.
Troopers learned he was a convicted felon and found a gun and stolen items inside the car, officials said.
Channel 9 has learned that Rios has served time in prison for several assaults and other charges.
Troopers are still looking for the passenger who ran from the scene.
