CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Two people died in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 77 near the border between North and South Carolina overnight.Police said a minivan and an SUV were involved in an accident near the Westinghouse Boulevard exit just after 11 p.m. Monday.Troopers told Channel 9 a good Samaritan, who was not involved in the accident, stopped to help. That person was trying to help the person still inside the SUV when a tractor-trailer hit the SUV and the good Samaritan, killing them both, police said.Channel 9 spoke to one man who said he was heading northbound at the time when he witnesses the collision.“It’s very disturbing. At the same time it makes you feel grateful for life and don’t take things, don’t take life for granted itself,” said eyewitness Andre Moore. The driver of the truck was treated by paramedics at the scene, but did not go to the hospital. So far, no charges have been filed.Officials have not released the names of the victims.
