TSA agents say gun was found in carry-on bag

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

TSA agents found a gun at Charlotte Douglas on Tuesday morning.

The TSA discovered it just after 7 a.m. They said a 9 mm pistol was discovered in a passenger's carry-on bag and that the bag also contained a loaded magazine, as well as additional loose rounds of ammunition.

The TSA said this is the fourth gun found at Charlotte Douglas Airport since the start of the year.

The last incident Eyewitness News found in our archives was on Jan. 14. The TSA said a woman had a .22-caliber gun with four rounds of ammunition in it and tried to bring it through security. That woman was fined $7,500.

The TSA said in January it was on pace to exceed last year's numbers, when they found 16 guns total at Charlotte-Douglas.

They said passengers need to double-check their bags for banned items.
