Union County deputies say there are potentially more victims in the case of a man charged with taking nude pictures of a child.
Detectives arrested Chad Blume last week on charges of indecent liberties and sexual exploitation of a minor.
Authorities said their investigation began after Blume traded in his car at Crossroads Ford in Indian Trail. Detectives said a worker was detailing Blume's car and discovered a memory SD card from a cell phone that had been left behind.
"[The worker] actually put it in his phone, and that’s when the numerous instances of the child pornography were found," said Detective Wes Tyson.
According to a search warrant, deputies then raided Blume's Mineral Springs home and seized multiple items, including DVDs, photographs, computers, a camcorder and children's clothing.
Authorities said they are now investigating the possibility there may be more victims, after learning Blume also volunteers with a local cheerleading group, the Waxhaw Flyers.
On Tuesday, the Flyers said, in part, "Chad Blume was a member of the Waxhaw community and was known by many. He was a friend of ours as well as many other families in Waxhaw. Chad Blume did volunteer, as many other friends and family did, with the start up of the business. He has no official affiliation or business relationship with the Waxhaw Flyers."
Blume's neighbors were surprised by his arrest, telling Channel 9 that the father of two mostly kept to himself.
"I got grandchildren so it really kinda touches home when you hear stories like that," said neighbor Charles Gilbert.
