UNION COUNTY, N.C. —
A Union County mother is charged with giving alcohol and cigarettes to teenagers.
Union County sheriff’s deputies said that's what they stumbled upon when they stopped by the home of Amanda Bowers.
Officials said there were children inside, taking part in both activities as well as having sex inside her Fairview home.
Deputies stopped by the home at the request of the Department of Social Services.
"The Department of Social Services had requested assistance from our agency to do a well-being check on some children at the residence," said Kevin James with Union County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say Bowers was providing alcohol and cigarettes to children under the age of 16.
They also said some of the children were having sex.
Bowers faces felony charges. She's out of jail on $6,000 bond.
DSS removed the children from the home and placed them with family members.
