UNION COUNTY, N.C. —
The Union County school district is still trying to get its website back up after someone emailed the district claiming he hacked the system and took employees personal information. Eyewitness News checked overnight and the server is still shut down. It has been shut down since Thursday when the hacker claimed he took social security numbers. He said he will reveal how he accessed that information in exchange for demands, but deputies won't say what those demands are. "The school district is trying to be very conscientious in moving as quickly as possible but moving as safely as possible," said Rob Jackson of the Union County Schools. The district has a temporary website for students and teachers. IT is reviewing security before restoring the original. The Sheriff's Office is working with the FBI to figure out if a breach happened or if the person got the information somewhere else.
