BOONE, N.C. —
Hundreds said goodbye to the Boone woman who was missing and then found dead.
Dara Watson's visitation was Tuesday night at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone.
Back in town, at her family's western wear store, the doors remained locked. WSOC noticed a new handwritten sign and flowers among the ones that have been there for days. Even though people walking by didn't go to the visitation, they were still thinking of Watson.
James Scott said, "The town's heart really goes out to the family. I know there's been a lot of prayers, a lot of prayers for her and for the family."
Investigators believe Watson's fiance, David Hedrick, shot her in the head and then killed himself. They found her SUV burned and her body nearby, both near her home in the Charleston area. Watson was 30 years old.
Marilyn Bouza said, "Very unnecessary. Very. Very. Especially being so young. Thirty. She still had a whole life ahead of her."
Watson's funeral is Wednesday afternoon at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Watson will be laid to rest in Banner Elk.
