CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

There were dozens of delays at Charlotte Douglas on Friday because of freezing rain that fell there.

Delays ranged on average from 15 minutes at some times to more than two hours at others.

Crews began deicing planes as early as 9:15 a.m. As of around 3p.m., 130 planes had been deiced.

U.S. Airways said it didn't cancel any flights because of Friday's weather and there were no travel advisories in place. However, because of the delays, they encouraged travelers to monitor the status of their flights throughout the day.

Eyewitness News saw several people hanging out in the terminal, either because they arrived extra early due to weather concerns on the road, or because their flights were delayed. Several travelers were crossing their fingers that they'd get out in time.

"I trust that they'll deice appropriately and if they feel that we can't get out, then I'll be stranded," said Tiffany Matlock. "I'm just hoping that I don't have to ask the hotel to come back and pick me up and I guess if so, that they can actually make it here."
