A mentally disabled woman ate garbage after being left alone all day by a caretaker who was supposed to be watching her, police said.

Whitney Hill, 24, was charged with felony neglect of the disabled with injury.

Police said the 21-year-old victim was physically ill and had to be taken to the hospital after ingesting trash she while was left alone with outside Hill's apartment.

A neighbor at Forest Park Apartments said she called protective services after she noticed the victim alone on a deck for nearly seven hours.

When police showed up, that neighbor realized the victim was eating trash, including a dirty diaper.

No one at Hill's apartment wanted to comment on the incident.

However, a person at M & M of the Carolinas, the agency that employed Hill as a caretaker, said Hill had been fired since the incident.

Authorities said Hill was at a friend's house all day as the disabled victim sat alone outside her apartment.

Police also said Hill was not authorized to take the victim to her home.
