CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. —
A grand jury in Catawba County has indicted a woman on two counts of larceny of a dog and assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly dragged a woman holding onto her car. Kendra Hawkins is accused of dragging Jane Burgess when Burgess said she tried to stop the woman from stealing two of her French bulldog puppies. Deputies said Hawkins fled to Spartanburg, S.C., with the 9-week-old puppies, which are valued at $2,000 each.
