The York County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to take extra precautions to avoid hitting deer.
A sheriff’s deputy was recently on patrol along Shannon Street, near the town of York, when a deer darted out in front of the car. There was minor damage to the car, and the deputy wasn’t injured, the sheriff’s office said. The deer got back up and ran into the woods.
York County Sheriff Bruce Bryant asked drivers in the county to take extra precautions this time of year, reminding them to be aware of road signs that inform of deer crossing hazards and to slow down while driving on rural roads.
