CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
A man accused of using counterfeit money at a nightclub was hit by a car after he being chased by police.
Police said the man pulled out what appeared to be counterfeit money to pay the club owner. It is not clear what he was paying for.
The club owner recognized the counterfeit bills and called the police. Officers were nearby and were at the club fairly quickly.
The club owner identified the accused man, and police went after him.
This resulted in the man running into the street in an attempt to get away from police.
He ran into Graham Street and West Fifth Street and was hit by a taxi.
He is at Carolinas Medical Center Main with head injuries and a broken arm.
Police said no charges will be filed against the taxi driver.
No charges have been filed yet against the man.
