Man Arrested After South Charlotte SWAT Situation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police called in a Special Weapons and Tactics team early Monday after a man fired a shotgun inside his south Charlotte home.

Officers said 43-year-old Scott Deese refused to come out of the Morganford Road home at first, which is why SWAT was called.

But police said he eventually did come out peacefully.

“For everybody's safety, we get our SWAT team. They're the experts in that area and it was resolved, nobody got hurt, he came out,” said Sgt. Roseann Detommaso of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Investigators said a female employee ran out of the home to a neighbor's house to call 911 after the shot was fired.

Detammaso said Reese may have been drinking.

He's charged with assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.
