CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Crime tape blocked the back entrance of the Mecklenburg County Health Department for most of Monday afternoon after a mysterious incident lead to a man’s death.

CMPD officers were busy taking pictures and gather evidence to be processed in the mobile crime lab.

Police told Channel 9 that a heavy set man, seeking services at the Health Department, made his way into rooms where he was not permitted.

Security guards caught him going through employee's purses and handbags.

Police say the suspect became unruly.

The security guards became physical and were forced to subdue him.

By the time CMPD officers arrived, the man was dead.
