Man Hit, Killed By Car

CHESTER, S.C. —

A 50-year-old man was hit and killed by a car in Chester Co., S.C. early Sunday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said it happened at 3:20 a.m. on Ashford Road neear the J.A. Cochran Bypass just outside of the Chester city limits.

The coroner said the victim was Frederick Robinson.

Troopers said a Chester man was driving a Buick, heading northbound on Ashford when he hit Robinson. They believe Robinson was walking on the southbound side when he crossed the road and was hit by the car.

Troopers aid Robinson died at the scene. The driver of the car was not hurt.

Investigators have not said if any charges will be filed.
