Marshville mayor details crimes, prison term in new book

MARSHVILLE, N.C. —

Marshville mayor Frank Deese is publishing his story "From Inmate to Mayor," detailing how he's changed his life following a ten-year stint in prison for armed robbery.

Deese said the book outlines success principles that apply to people at many different stages of their lives.

"What I realized in prison is I can own my tomorrow, and when I really internalized that fact it was a good thing because then I could realize my present conditions do not define me. I can determine where I will go," Deese said.

Deese has been mayor of Marshville since 2005.
