Men Invade Home, Steal Purse During North Charlotte Bunco Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A girls' night in took a bad turn Thursday night in north Charlotte.

Fourteen women in Highland Creek met at Brenda Barnes' house on Cambridge Bay Drive for their monthly Bunco game. It got hot while they played the popular dice game, so they cracked the back door of the house.

They say soon after three armed men barged in. Barnes remembers looking at her friend when it happened.

"She says, 'Don't move,' and I looked at her and she says, 'Don't move, they have a gun,'" Barnes said.

They say the men grabbed a purse-- belonging to David Walton's wife Jeannie -- and ran off.

"If that's the worst thing that happened, with a man that came in the house with a gun, [he] stole your wallet, we made out great," Walton said.

Judy Senter was in the right place at the right time -- in another room and out of danger. \

"We're in shock, we're all in shock. We had the open just to get some air and would never have thought about anybody just, just coming in," she said.

Meanwhile, Barnes says she's still in shock. She said, "They violated my home and my privacy and I don't feel good about that; I feel very sick about that."

Police are still looking for suspects.
