Minor Earthquake Rattles Western N.C.

 

HOT SPRINGS, N.C. —

A minor earthquake shook western North Carolina Wednesday night.

The National Earthquake Information Center in Colorado said the earthquake happened at 11:09 p.m. and had a magnitude of 3.8. It was centered about two miles from Hot Springs, N.C. That's 25 miles north northwest of Asheville near the North Carolina- Tennessee state line.

No major damage was reported.

Viewers from Huntersville to Lincoln County to Cleveland County called Eyewitness News reporting what they described as tremors.
