Mooresville Home For Sale Destroyed By Blaze; Arson Suspected

Investigators Working To Find Cause

MOORESVILLE, N.C. —

A large home near Lake Norman caught fire just after midnight Tuesday.

Fortunately no one was inside when the blaze began on Wilson Lake Road around 12:20 a.m. Fire officials said the home had been up for sale.

Firefighters said because the house was set back from the road, the fire was hard to spot. So by the time fire crews arrived, the home was nearly destroyed.

Firefighters said there was little they could do to save the home. It burned down to the frame, destroying almost everything inside.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control around 1:30 a.m., but they are still keeping an eye out for hot spots.

Investigators do not know how it started, but they say the fire is suspicious. The home has been declared a total loss.
