CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Concord police said they had already pulled over the same driver earlier in the night for an expired tag on the motorcycle. Police said the driver did nothave the proper type of license to drive a motorcycle and the motorcycle did not belong to the driver.
The crash happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday on I-85 near City Boulevard in northeast Charlotte. Witnesses told police the man was going 100 mph, popped a wheelie, lost control and hit a concrete barrier in the median.
Some lanes of I-85 were shut down for a few hours after the crash.
Highway Patrol troopers said they are seeing more speeding motorcyclists lately. They said they are working on a plan to target the drivers and prevent any more deadly crashes.
