NEWTON, N.C. —
John Mitchell, suspected in the death of Travis Baker, could make his first court appearance in Newton on Monday, according to Catawba County Chief Deputy Coy Reed.
Investigators said Mitchell shot Baker at his home, then tried to hide his body under a woodpile, where it was found two years after Baker was reported missing.
Skeletal remains found under the woodpile were positively identified as Baker on Thursday.
When Mitchell arrives in North Carolina, Catawba County sheriffs will serve a warrant for first-degree murder, Reed said.
