CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

When you first enter the new Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill you can’t help but notice all the … TVs? Well, not exactly. It’s the beautiful bikini clad girls with cut-off jean shorts and cowboy boots that you immediately detect.

The Texas born franchise opened its doors on January 28 and has been full of activity ever since. They only have two other locations other than here, both in the lone star state, one in Austin and the other in San Marcos.

Head coach Greg Smith said the franchise chose Charlotte because the recession hasn’t hit Charlotte as bad as other big cities.

Smith said the self proclaimed Pittsburgh Steelers bar is straight forward when it comes to pleasing the customers. Their concept is fairly recession proof with simple, affordable fare, daily drink specials and free eye candy.

The servers are cute, friendly and very accommodating to everyone that walks through the door.

Although a guy’s paradise, Bikinis welcomes all woman to experience their fun not-so-serious atmosphere. The restaurant is family-friendly also with their 'Little Sluggers' menu offerings for children.

I wasn’t entirely lying when I mentioned the TVs; they have 31 flat screens, covering every inch of the walls for the ultimate sports viewing experience. Smith said there is not a single game request that they can’t fill.

Their menu is simple, pub-style fare with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Bikinis is well-known for its burger mini’s, buffalo wings and its 4-pound Big Buckin’ Burger and if you’re brave enough to take down the monster burger you will receive a t-shirt and without doubt a burning belly.

Business at Bikinis has been great so far and Smith said they are very happy with Charlotte and plan on opening more locations in the Queen City as well as the Raleigh area in the next few years or so.
