CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers who investigators say were involved in the deadly shooting of a local teen are now back on the job.

Officers Jeffrey Wheaton and Brian Carey started back on Wednesday after more than a week on administrative leave.

Authorities said the officers were investigating a possible robbery at the Casa De Lago apartment complex off Albemarle Road when they spotted 16-year-old Laquan Brown running from the scene. One of the officers said he fired at Brown when the teen, who police say had a gun, raised his hand.

Investigators said they found a gun about 20 feet from Brown’s body.

The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
