Panthers Tackle Arrested, Released On Bond

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Carolina Panthers right tackle Jeremy Bridges was arrested Thursday afternoon.

He was charged with misdemeanor assault after he was accused of pointing a gun at a female employee in the parking lot of a strip club.

Authorities said Bridges was arrested on an outstanding warrant from something that happened Thursday morning at Club Onyx on Old Pineville Road.

He posted $3,000 bond and had his first appearance on Friday. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 27.

Team spokesman Charlie Dayton said he didn't know if Bridges would report to training camp on Friday. Players were due in Spartanburg, S.C., by noon for a series of meetings. The first practice is Saturday morning.

Bridges could also face disciplinary action under the NFL's new and tougher conduct policy.

Bridges is the second Panther arrested in the offseason. D'Anthony Batiste was acquitted of carrying a concealed weapon after a Mecklenburg County judge ruled his arrest for a window tint violation was a pretext to search Batiste's car.
