Parent Complains About Fight At Charlotte High School

A parent of a Garinger High School student complained that her daughter was involved in a fight and received stitches at a local hospital.

Garinger High School resource officers called in police backup Tuesday morning after a fight broke out during a class change and students began crowding around.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools spokesman Damon Ford, two juvenile girls were involved.

Parent Nicole White said her 15-year-old daughter, Jasmine, who is in the honors accelerated program, got drawn into the argument after a book was thrown and hit her in the back of the head.

The two students were transported to Carolinas Medical Center University for treatment. Jasmine White required five stitches over her eye.

"She's talking but is slow to respond to doctors and she's very frightened, angry," said Nicole White.

She said Jasmine has had problems with the other student before and tried to walk away from the confrontation.

"She did what the administrators asked her to do, what her parents asked her to do, and in the end result she was hurt in it," said Nicole White.
