Pit Bull Attacks, Seriously Injures Woman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A 26-year-old woman was attacked by a pit bull Friday, according to her father.

Joe Mazza said his daughter Mandy was walking her dog when a pit bull came up and attacked her. It happened just after 5 p.m. on Southwood Avenue in southwest Charlotte.

Mazza took pictures of her injuries on her arms and legs, but the images are too graphic to post. He said it all happened very quickly.

“It looks like a chainsaw. It is amazing how fast, just in seconds, how much damage this pit bull can do,” he said.

Mazza said his daughter had surgery for those injuries. Police said the dog that attacked her lived in the neighborhood, and has been taken to animal control.
