Police: 3 Shot In Aldi Parking Lot

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police believe some type of argument led to a triple shooting Saturday at about 3:30 a.m in the Aldi parking lot on Freedom Drive near Camp Green Street in west Charlotte.

Three people were shot and taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Officers said two men and one woman were shot.

One of the male victims was shot in the chest, and another was shot in the stomach and has potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police said that just prior to the shooting, a crowd of people had gathered at the Cook Out restaurant parking lot nearby. Capt. Jeff Pless said people tend to group there after the bars have closed for the night.

“Apparently they serve food late into the night,” Pless said. “People park their cars out here, which is not a problem until it becomes unsafe, and obviously that's what happened tonight."

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating and interviewing possible witnesses.

Eyewitness News will continue to follow this story.
