Police: Driver Fell Asleep, Caused Deadly Crash In Lancaster County

 

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. —

A Lancaster County crash killed a person early Monday.

A pickup truck overturned down an embankment on Highway 521 around 12:30 a.m. Police said two children were riding in the truck with five adults.

Daniel Bennett, 23, was killed when he was thrown from the bed of the pickup truck. The other six people in the truck were taken to a hospital in Camden.

Police said they think the driver, Deloris Bennett, fell asleep at the wheel.

No charges have been filed.
