Police, Family Seek Clues In Unsolved Murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police and family of a murdered teenager came together Wednesday, to ask for the public’s help in solving the case.

Family and friends of Ja'ron McGill are now offering a reward for information about his murder. They're hoping it will attract more leads in the case.

McGill was killed in east Charlotte Aug. 2. Police said he was walking home from his girlfriend's home when he was shot on Lanecrest Drive.

"I tell you there's nothing, nothing, nothing like losing a child," said his father, James McGill.

CMPD detectives joined with family members Wednesday, pleading for clues.

"He was doing all the right things. He was going to school, working, taking care of his family. Very respectful," said Detective G.L. McFadden.

Witnesses said they saw three men driving away from the shooting in a gold Toyota. Police don't have much else to go on.

If you have any information that could help them in Ja'ron McGill's murder, call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
