Police Find Missing Conover Infant In Davie County

CONOVER, N.C. —

Police found a missing 2-month-old girl from Conover early Monday morning, but the man accused of taking her was still on the loose, police said.

The amber alert was issued Sunday night for Catalin Hoard after she was abducted from her home on Herman Sipe Road in Catawba County.

Officers found Hoard after a police chase in Davie County.

The suspect, 37-year-old Saturnino Ortega-Vidal, jumped out of the truck and ran off, police said.

Ortega-Vidal had been living with Hoard's mother but he got drunk, fought with the mother and then took off with the baby, according to police.

He will be charged with kidnapping and assault.
