Police Make Arrest In July 4th Murder

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested a man in connection with a July 4th murder on Georgetown Drive. William Thomas, 41, is charged with the shooting death of 35-year-old Calvin Thompson.

Police also said Thomas shot 50-year-old Bobby Fluitt. Fluitt suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Neighbors told Eyewitness News the shooting happened at a holiday bar-b-que.

William Thomas is in the Mecklenburg County Jail. No bond has been set. He's expected to have his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
