CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Following 65 car break-ins in the past month, police are warning people in South Charlotte.
The crimes have been taking place between Park Road and Ballantyne.
Police say in most cases the cars are in driveways or even garages.
Officers suggest people to lock car doors and not keep valuables in cars.
"The one thing we can control is what you leave in your car; it helps prevent the opportunity to break into these vehicles, so we'd like people to put their items up," said Lt. Pam Lisenby.
Police are patrolling the area in unmarked cars, and also on foot and bikes.
