Power Lines Fall On Car After Crash

MATTHEWS, N.C. —

Firefighters said the driver of a silver Mazda hit a telephone pole and then a tree on Tilly Morris Street, near Matthews, early Monday evening.

The crash caused power lines to fall down on the car. The car was then electrically charged, preventing emergency workers from getting to the person trapped inside.

Medic had to wait for Duke Energy workers to cut off power so that they could begin a rescue operation.

The driver's condition hasn't been released.
