Proposed Cuts For CMS Magnet Programs Go To School Board

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Tuesday morning, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools will present their proposed changes to the Magnet program to the school board.

Among administrators’ proposals is removing the languages program from E.E. Waddell, and making West Mecklenburg a county-wide language school.

School officials will also suggest Smith, Collinswood, and Oaklawn become kindergarten through eighth grade and offer immersions in different languages at each of them.

The school board is not expected to make a decision on the program cuts Tuesday.
