Queen Charlotte Predicts More Winter Weather

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte's weather forecasting groundhog, Queen Charlotte, saw her shadow on Saturday, which folklore says means six more weeks of winter weather in the Carolinas.

Queen Charlotte was taken out of her crate and saw her shadow outside the Charlotte Nature Museum just after noon.

Museum officials said Groundhog Day is one of its busiest days of the year as families come to see Charlotte's version of Punxsutawney Phil.

Hundreds of children and their parents looked on and cheered after the groundhog's handlers told the crowd the animal's prediction.
