Deyanira "Dee" Rios, 20, was shot at the Real's Latin Mix Convenience Store early Friday morning after she had just opened the store for the day. She later died at the hospital. The store's owner, Liliana Spears, told Channel 9 that Rios was working an additional shift that day to earn extra money to help support her family. Spears said the shooter only got away with less than $100.
“What a senseless way for a young lady to die for a little bit of money,” she said.
Authorities searched for the gunman on Friday using K-9 units, but so far no arrests have been made. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video of the robbery.
