Robber Breaks Through Locked Door To Hold Up North Charlotte Motel

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A locked door didn't keep a robber from breaking in to a north Charlotte motel early Wednesday.

Police said the robber broke the glass door to get inside the Days Inn on Sunset Road just before 5 a.m.

He confronted the clerk, stole money and took off. The employee was not injured.

Officers said they do not have many robberies in the area, and that they mostly handle property crimes. However, they aren't taking any chances.

"We've put some focus mission team officers in this area for designated patrols, and, also, some of our midnight-shift officers. We've asked them to come over here and do more active patrols in this area for that," said Sgt. Eric Brady.

Police are following leads on a possible suspect.

Right next door, someone also robbed the Super 8 about a month ago. Officers are trying to determine if the same person committed both crimes.
