CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Police arrested Tristan Russell on August 9. Officers said the sexual assaults happened at the boy's south Charlotte home over a two-year period while Russell was a regular babysitter for the boy and his siblings.
“It reached to a point where he was ready to tell someone and it just came out," said Detective Donald Simmons.
Simmons said Russell has confessed to the assaults.
“The suspect came in [and] he was very cooperative -- confessed to such crimes,” Simmons said.
For the last two years, Russell has been a counselor in Providence Day School's extended day and summer camp programs. Police said they don't have any evidence of assaults there, but the school notified parents by e-mail and also suspended Russell without pay.
