Second Floor Collapses During Charlotte House Fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Flames destroyed a home in south Charlotte early Sunday morning.

A Charlotte Fire Department spokesperson said the second floor collapsed as flames and smoke destroyed the home on Treyford Lane near Providence Road. Firefighters then left the house and transitioned into defensive mode. They surrounded the house and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

Firefighters said no one was home when the fire started and no one was injured. Firefighters are investigating the cause.
