CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A serial robber who has targeted more than half a dozen Charlotte banks was given a nickname Thursday shortly after he robbed another bank.

The man now known as the "Bearded Bandit" robbed the RBC Centura Bank on East Boulevard just after it opened.

Authorities gave the robber the nickname because of his elaborate disguise, which includes a fake beard, fake mustache, sunglasses, wig, hat and possibly even makeup on his nose.

In several surveillance pictures from numerous robberies, the features of his actual face are hidden

The disguise has confused Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, who said they haven't received any solid tips because no one knows who the robber is.

One witness who saw the "Bearded Bandit" run from the Dilworth bank Thursday said he could barely see the robber's race.

"At first he looked like a white guy, then a black guy. I don't know what was up with him, man," said Roger Landis, who was working outside and saw the robber casually cross the street.

FBI agents believe the same man has robbed eight other banks dating bank to 2005.

Recently, he’s suspected of robbing another RBC Centura bank on Oct. 20.
