Siemens Energy Expanding In Charlotte, Bringing Hundreds Of Jobs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte leaders are expected to make a major announcement Thursday. They're set to talk about plans to expand Siemens Energy in Charlotte.

The company expects to bring more than 800 jobs and at least $170 million to Charlotte over the next five years.

This economic development has been a secret for months, and local project leaders even gave it the code name "Project Cardinal" during negotiations.

Siemens Energy develops and builds power plants and generator components. The company already owns property off of Westinghouse Boulevard in southwest Mecklenburg County.

Eyewitness News will be at the announcement Thursday morning to learn more about the project, and what kind of jobs the company plans to bring.
