CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
North Carolina Department of Transportation crews put up a sign Thursday on York Road promising a temporary traffic signal at Riverpointe Road by June.
It was at that intersection that three people were killed in a crash caused by two cars that police said were racing earlier this month.
Drivers said they are happy about the change.
"There hasn't been a second that's gone by when I have to make a left turn out of there that I’m not cautious about it," said Mary Ickert, a RiverPointe resident. "And it's always crossed my mind that it's a very dangerous intersection."
Crews also put up signs warning drivers of the intersection and advising them to slow down to 45 mph.
