GRANITE FALLS, N.C. —
Detectives told Eyewitness News they are tracking down leads from phone calls they received after releasing a sketch of a person of interest in the murder of a pawn shop worker.
About two dozen tips had been called in to Granite Falls police by Wednesday morning, the police chief said.
Customers found Tony Myers, 65, shot and killed behind the counter at Granite Gun and Pawn on South Main Street.
Myers was the father of the shop's owner.
Crimestoppers is now offering a $1,000 reward for information related to the murder.
Police said they will follow up on all of the tips they receive.
Police described the man in the sketch as a young white male with dark hair and a speech impediment.
They called him a person of interest in the case.
Investigators said robbery was the motive in the murder, but they were not sure what was taken from the shop.
Officers ask anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch to call the Granite Falls police department at 828-396-3358.
