CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Firefighters responded to a house fire in the Myers Park area early Wednesday morning.

Officials said a family of three woke up at about 6 a.m. and smelled smoke. The mom, dad and child ran out of the house with the family dog and called 911 from a cell phone.

Firefighters reported seeing smoke coming from the attic of the home on Tranquil Avenue, off Selwyn Avenue.
